7) Lamb of God—“Grace”As one of the leading bands of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal, Lamb of God continues to pave the way for the future generation of
metal maniacs. The band garnered a massive following through a grueling grassroots effort of non-stop touring. During that time they lived like
vagabonds, sleeping in campsites and even changing the tour van’s transmission in the parking lot of a K-mart—whatever it took to keep going
forward. The band’s big breakthrough came in 2003 when they got signed to Epic Records.
“Grace” from the band’s release, Wrath, lulls the listener in with a clean-toned intro comprised of melodious diatonic scale sequences. But don’t
be fooled, brutality awaits, and the band delivers enough carnage to put you into a coma. Tune down three steps to D% and be prepared to
practice if you want to get this riff tight.
