4) Breaking Benjamin—“Fade Away”
Formed over 10 years ago, Breaking Benjamin got their name when lead singer Benjamin Burnley broke the house mic at an open jam by kicking it
over. Since then the band has enjoyed tremendous success with their radio-friendly brand of modern rock.
The gorgeous intro riff from “Fade Away” gets the honor for having the lowest tuned guitar on this list with the use of Drop D tuning down two
more whole steps, which results in an ultra-low B%. The riff is best played in 10th position to allow the pinkie to access the 13th fret of the fifth
string. As you work through it, be careful not to rush the hammer-ons and pull-offs
